Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Tallinn and help us design outstanding technical solutions for our generator parts and assemblies. For exceptional applicants, this role can evolve into a team leader position.


Lead the development of the structure and mechanical systems of our UP series generators. This will involve the whole product life cycle, including concept design, prototyping, design for mass manufacturing and maintenance.
Supervise and approve the work of junior designers which includes CAD designs, blueprints for manufacturing and tolerance and stress calculations.
Analyze feedback and usage data from customers to derive necessary design changes.
Ensure that our products are designed to meet all of the relevant standards and regulations.


Min. 2 years of experience working as a mechanical design engineer (excl. internships and placements) in product development.
Highly proficient using at least two of the following CAD programs: Solidworks, Solid Edge, Fusion360, NX.
Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping and are able to use, program and repair CNCs, 3D printers and hobby-grade laser cutters. You also have experience creating designs to be manufactured with rapid prototyping methods.
Experience with CAM (Computer-aided Manufacturing). Solidworks CAM preferred.
Experience of working in a workshop; skilled using tools such as column drills and dremel machines; able to accurately thread and countersink holes.
Knowledge of CE marking and its related standards and regulations; incl. FMEA assessments.
Have led projects related to product development.
Experience with FEA simulations such as static and dynamic loads, impacts and vibrations. At least a basic understanding of CFD simulations.
Experience working with sheet metal, and using the relevant CAD modules.
Thorough knowledge of various polymeric materials and their behaviours. Experience with various plastic moulding processes is a plus.
Having worked with PEM fuel cells or high-pressure hydrogen piping and instrumentation is a huge plus.
Some knowledge of power electronics.
Fluent in both spoken and written English, along with excellent report-writing and administrative skills.
Willing to relocate to Tallinn, Estonia.
